Just a few years ago, the great bargain-hunting wave of "Black Friday" spilled over from America to Switzerland. The day of action with its oversized special offers is not popular everywhere - and so do we at MY SNOWFLAKE want us according to the motto #noblackfriday turn to White Friday.
Also this year we donate 10% of our daily turnover to a charitable organization on Black Friday. This year's proceeds will go to the parents' homes of Ronald McDonald Foundation. Our founder Sara Hurler has a special relationship with this foundation.
During a difficult time Sara had found accommodation herself in the Ronald McDonald House in Lucerne. Their first son was born prematurely and had to stay in hospital for almost five weeks. The proximity to the hospital thanks to the Ronald McDonald House was a real blessing.
"I was warmly welcomed there from the start and was happy to be able to exchange ideas with other mothers who had their children in the hospital. The proximity to the cantonal hospital is great and so I was able to visit our newborn as often as possible."

The Ronald McDonald Children's Foundation now runs six parental homes with 52 rooms in Switzerland, connected to its partner hospitals in Basel, Bern, Geneva, Lucerne and St.Gallen. They offer very nice, modern family rooms so that you can always be with the sick child when they wake up in the hospital. Communal kitchens and common rooms offer space for exchange with other affected parents. Those who want their peace and quiet can withdraw at any time. Well-kept outdoor areas & parks offer space to breathe easy. Thanks to the affordable rooms, a stay in a Ronald McDonald House is open to everyone.

The Ronald McDonald Children's Foundation has been committed to families with seriously ill children since 1992, helps parents to be close to their sick children - then when you particularly need it. If a child needs to be hospitalized, being close to mom and dad is true medicine. As there are very few hospitals where parents can stay overnight and they are often far away from home, the Ronald McDonald Foundation helps. In their parents' homes they offer parents and siblings a temporary home close to the little patients. In this way, sick children do not have to go without their families in the hospital.
In doing so, they mainly support families with small children - but their offer applies to all families with children from 0 to 18 years of age - regardless of their origin or financial background. The only requirement is treatment in one of your partner hospitals in Basel, Bern, Geneva, Lucerne and St.Gallen.
The foundation is 100% financed through donations. The first sponsor was McDonald's founder Ray Kroc. They still get an important part from the donation kettles in McDonald's restaurants - from customers.
